Suspected Dog Fighting Ring Busted in Michigan

Dog Fighting continues to be an issue for authorities long after Michael Vick served his time in jail. On Sunday, the Detroit Free Press reported that the police arrested 26 people suspected of being involved in a dog fighting ring in Monroe County, Michigan.

Among the items seized by police in their raid of the dog fighting rin: Dog training treadmill, a dog fighting ring, cocaine, marijuana, and more than $40,000. Five dogs were confiscated and two were badly injured. According to the report, thosands of dollars were being bet on a championship dog fighting match.

“It’s probably one the biggest cases we’ve had in a long time,” Kemp said. “We took van loads of people out of there.”

The Monroe Evening News reported a full-sized dogfighting ring had been constructed inside the garage, and participants stood around to watch. The newspaper also quoted a detective who said there was blood everywhere.

There wasn’t any word on where the dogs confiscated dogs were taken.
