New Year... New Beginnings
Greetings readers! By way of introduction, my name is Mary Scott and I recently joined the team over here at Doggie Deliveries. Cassie and Craig have built an impressive company these past seven years, and I am thrilled to be part of such a fun and energetic team. I also now have the opportunity to bring two of my passions together – marketing and dogs!
As owner of two adorable bichon frises, I can tell you it’s hard to find anything that melts my heart like O’Reilly and Finnigan. As mischievous and feisty as they can be, at the end of the day I know all they really want is my love and attention. And, lots of it!
The thing that strikes me the most about my dogs, especially my older one O’Reilly, is their total and complete (and sometimes reluctant) acceptance of change. I wish humans were as easygoing as these two! I bought O’Reilly from a breeder in Ohio back in 1999, my first year out of college. Having recently lost my childhood dog, Dylan, I was yearning for something or someone to fill the void Dylan left.
I wasn’t exactly at a good point in my life to take on a pet, because my life was rapidly changing. But O’Reilly stuck with me through career changes, apartment and house moves, getting married, getting him a canine brother and then our family welcoming our first (human) child last year.
While my attention and focus shifted from one thing, to another, to another, the only constant I’ve had these past eleven years is O’Reilly…. there with his tail wagging, anxiously awaiting a hug or walk from me. He really doesn’t need much, as long as he can simply be near me.
When I reflect on what it means to have this little being at my side, I’m left with one conclusion: We can learn from our animals. We can limit the demands we place upon others, we should show our loyalty on a daily basis and we can “be there” for people by simply being there… no matter what the situation is someone is facing.
I’m so proud to be part of a company dedicated to giving back to our loyal companions. And, I am a person that doesn’t just love feedback and ideas, I thrive on it! You can reach me at mhcscott@gmail.com at any time.
I look forward to the year ahead, and to getting to know each and every one of you!
