Huge outpour of support over police dog
Bo, a beautiful Belgian Malinois, was killed in action last week while chasing a suspect. Since the police dog was killed, people in the community have raised nearly $8,000 for police dog groups.
This story (Police dog's death sparks outpouring) on IndyStar.com also mentions that the dog's police partner is still devastated by the loss - and understandably so. He still won't publicly comment.
"I just talked to him the other day," Benny Diggs told the Indianalpolis Star. "It's like a family member."

Dog tips boat, then runs for help
Al Lotrecchiano had just caught the biggest bass of his life, when his dog overturned his fishing boat just as he was about to toss the fish back into the lake. In this Associated Press story on happynews.com, a happy ending is told. The dog swam 400 yards to the shore, then ran home barking. Lotrecchiano's wife and neighbor were alerted and the neighbor called for help. Clinging to the boat, Lotrecchiano was saved.
"Thank God the dog did what the dog did," he told the AP.
