The battle for a St. Bernard
You had to figure this was going to happen. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, many caring dog lovers adopted the homeless dogs that were wondering the streets of New Orleans. Master Tank, a big ol' St. Bernard, was adopted from the North Pinellas Humane Society and now his former owners want him back. It's understandable, but according to a Tampa vet, Master Tank wasn't too well cared for before the storm, so perhaps he's in better hands with his new owners.

This is not the first time this has happened. A few months ago, there was a case in New Jersey that went to court and the judge found for the owner and the dog was returned. In the case of Master Tank, the owner's lawyer has demanded the dog be returned. and the board of the humane society will be meeting this Thursday to decide what to do. As someone who is still helping owners find their missing Katrina dogs, I am disgusted by the actions of the North Pinellas Humane Society -- this is not the only dog they adopted out who should be returned to the owners, but I think Pam Bondi is heartless. She is depriving two young children of their dog, two kids who have lost their parents and their home.
